St. Augustine

With Hurricane/Tropical Storm Isaac rolling in earlier this week, Duke was given the go-ahead to evacuate if we so pleased last Sunday. We decided to take the free time off to head over to Jacksonville and visit our friends that recently moved there. We had a great time with them and jetted over to St. Augustine on Tuesday for a fun little afternoon. We brought Winston with us there, which turned out to be a big mistake. He lasted all of about 10 minutes before he was about to die from the heat. So we ended up boarding him for a few hours so we could enjoy the city.

We didn't spend that long there, but we toured the old fort that was built way back in 1672. I loved the old cannons they had on display, they were so ornate. It seems that art was incorporated into so much more back then. Also, for your history lesson, St. Augustine is the oldest, continually occupied European-establishment in the US, founded in 1565. It was a fun little place to visit. Really touristy with a bunch of little shops and what not, but very pretty and fun to visit!

One Year

"I was walking along looking for somebody, and then suddenly I wasn't anymore."

Thanks for making me so happy Duke.

Anniversary Celebration

Our anniversary is actually tomorrow, but we decided to take the weekend to celebrate! We went down to the Redneck Riveria aka Destin, FL. I love Destin. We've vacationed in this area my whole life so it's a little sentimental place too. I'm always overwhelmed by the beauty of Destin every time I go. It's so beautiful!! If you haven't been, you NEED to go!!!

My recommendations are to check out the gator farm at Fudpuckers and to invest in some cheap floaties. My food recommendations are Vinij Wine Bistro, Cuvee Bistro and Donut Hole Cafe. I don't know how it was my first time to go to Donut Hole-but I thought their donuts were bomb. (We love food if you can't tell)

It was a great weekend. I love celebrating love!!

Family Pictures

My ever-so-talented friend, Whitney, kindly took some pictures of us with Winston when we were out in Utah in May. I just ADORE the pictures of Winston. I can't get over his face. I fear that my human children may not be as cute. It's a real concern ;). Isn't she so talented? She's also the same friend who made those really yummy and beautiful cookies for my wedding reception. I wish I was her. Thank you WHITNEY!!!!!

*you may see these pics again in the form of Christmas cards later this year.

Sailing in Pensacola

Last weekend we had some friends come stay with us for a short visit. Tyler was Duke's college BFF and they were on their way to Jacksonville, FL to move (of course right before WE move!). We had fun with them and Duke acted like a teenager with his bff around. We took them sailing down in Pensacola. I really love sailing and wish we took advantage of it more! Once we retire we have a dream of sailing somewhere. Not around the world, bc honestly, being at sea that long?? But we've thought maybe around the Americas-then you can stop at shore and what not.

Usually we just sail around and come back in. This time we sailed over a a restaurant where we could dock and eat a bite. It was a fun little afternoon and we were lucky it was sunny the whole time! The place we ate at offered an "Endagered Basket"...really?? It doesn't even sound good? We decided the price was probably so high, so they could pay whatever fines they have to pay for serving endangered foods.

It was a fun weekend and I'm glad they came! The day they left, we had my college BFF and husband come into town. I don't have any pics sadly bc they left for Destin Monday morning, but I'll be seeing them again this Saturday. I love when friends come visit!!!
